A little bit more about Mignon | I am a botanical artist originally from Armidale NSW and now based in Canberra. For the past 30 years I’ve been in exhibitions in Australia and Italy. I am a member and exhibitor of the Botanical Art Society of Australia and Friends of the National Botanic Gardens Botanic Art Group. In my art, I have a passion for the fine detail used to capture the essence of the subject. Watercolour and the use of the dry brush technique realises this detail and suits my love of this medium. I am now also using coloured pencil. This exhibition has given me the opportunity to combine my interest in the creative Bonsai technique of growing plants, and my venture into miniature artwork. Inspiration for the three works come from my love of the National Bonsai Collection at the Arboretum in Canberra and choosing birds most connected to the tree represented.
