A little artist statement | Jocelyn is a self-taught artist who developed a love for art since early childhood. She took up drawing with pen, ink and charcoal. Since her arrival in Australia, she drew mainly animals and still life and has been fascinated with the vast and beautiful landscapes. She’s taken a liking to the varieties of gums trees and the beautiful bright light reflecting onto the landscapes. Jocelyn is fascinated with other subjects and experiments with different mediums. This series of miniatures, in watercolour, is dedicated to her brother - who was a painter at heart. She chose to focus on the still life genre because it was a language they both spoke. By keeping the subject constant, Jocelyn can focus on the emotional weight of each piece, making her art a vessel for cherished memories and a reminder of the bond they shared.
