A little bit extra about the art from Sally | I made this painting intuitively, one decision prompting the next. I move between soft washes, curved forms, harder edges and abrupt graphic marks, using something visually sharp to interrupt passages that begin to feel too comfortable or predictable. Although the work is entirely painted, I’m borrowing from the language of collage. I like the moment when a disruption changes the course of the painting and opens up a new possibility.
