Kiata Mason is a NSW based artist who paints still life. I was quite taken by her domestic scenes particularly as I love ceramic objects, flowers and all things familiar. I feel like I could sit in her house, drinks lots of tea and talk all things art, art school, education, the arts institutions and so much more. As it was, we did more or less in a couple of phone calls. I felt at ease from the moment we spoke. I think that could be a Canberra trait. Knowing Kiata had spent time here in her teenage years meant we had an instant connection. I’m thrilled she has paired so easily and beautifully with Hamish’s tiny tea-sets.
