Christmas at GOST | Mini Art Series Prize | ACT Young Virtuoso winner

Christmas 2023 show | 3 Nov to 23 Dec 2023

Can you believe Christmas is only 8 weeks away! We have you covered with artworks made for our special Christmas show so gift giving (and receiving) will be rewarding for everyone.

For our first show, we have little tapestries from Lee Leibrandt, new handprinted decorations & cards from Outer Island, ceramic wall hangings from Grace Brown, paintings by Sue Wearne, ceramic brooches by Vicki Grima, handbags by Liz Taverner, etchings by Michele Heibel, new bird art prints by Eggpicnic and gorgeous new calendars/notecards by Typoflora.

The gallery will have another change over of artworks including textile works from Christine Appleby and Jess Hall and little woodblock paintings by Sue Wearne. These will be featured in our GOST December news.

You can still shop online with click and collect (or shipping) anytime. I will try my best to roll out all the artworks over the coming weeks so keep a regular eye on the online shop. Wishing everyone a festive November, best Anne xx

Mini Series Art Prize | on till 5 Nov 2023

I recently went on a road trip to Orange and co-judge the Mini Series Art Prize with Curator Madeline Young and Painter Larissa Blake. Madi has been running this prize for a few years at The Corner Store Gallery and it was lovely for Larissa and I to be invited this year to make some tough decisions with Madi.

We spent time going through the catalogue prior to meeting in person and then discussing the works as curated in the gallery space. It’s never easy to choose just one winner and two highly commendations. I’ve always believed that being a finalist is just as rewarding to be selected among your peers. To find out the winners please head to The Corner Store Gallery.

Supporting musicians | Virtuoso Awards

This is our 2nd year of supporting ArtSound FM’s ACT Young Virtuoso Awards. Adam and I both have a love of music in addition to the visual arts. President Julie Finch-Scally wrote to us letting us know about the event as we were overseas at the time.

Four finalists participated in the live awards on 17 September 2023. We were thrilled to hear Connor Whyte, a classical guitarist studying at The Australian National University will be winging his way to the National YVA finals in Brisbane. We wish him all the best and thanks again to ArtSound for supporting a great initiative.
