Art in Miniature | Miniature Paintings

I’m delighted our 2nd show, Miniature Paintings, by Art in Miniature opens to the public this
Thursday 5 March 2026. We have special guest, Dr Susannah Helman, Senior Advisor Curatorial Research, National Library of Australia who will open the show at a private event.

Art in Miniature is a special group who are celebrating 25 years of friendship this year over a love of painting miniatures. I have previously opened two shows for them in Canberra and Cooma and impressed by their commitment to the sizes they must work within to be declared miniature.

Visitors will enjoy 51 artworks created by 17 members. They have all been framed in pale oak with an acid free single mat and are ready to hang. The subject matters range from botanicals to birds and balloons,
still life and objects (think vintage glass, ceramics, vases), landscapes and seascapes, bonsai and fungi and so much more.

The catalogue will go live in person and online at 11am.

Visit our exhibitions page, please remember to hit refresh so the ‘shop the exhibition now’ button can be activated. If you have any questions big or small please ask as I’ll be happy to help you at any stage of the purchasing process.

Save the Dates | A solo exhibition | Melissa Hammond

From 26 March to 6 April, our next exhibition will be the lovely Canberra based
emerging artist Melissa Hammond.

Think delicate scenes of the French landscape in the lightest of colours and fleeting
Parisian moments with pops of colour!
Her oil pastels are framed and ready to hang in your home or special space.

I couldn’t help myself as a little reveal is nice to see. Keep an eye out on social media and our next newsletter dropping 31 March to find out more about the artworks coming our way.

A little shout out | Dr Sarah Rice | Talk at CMAG

Dr Sarah Rice, recently opened our 1st show of the year for Kiata Mason and Hamish Bassett. She wrote a thoughtful and insightful speech which resonated with our guests that evening. Now, time for her to shine! She has a new publication, Alight on all things precious, which is being launched at Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) on Saturday 14 March. Sarah tells us a little more, “It’s a collection of poetry I’ve written in response to visual art (both my own and others’) - including many ceramicists and craftspeople! And local Canberra artists too. Visit here for more info.
