Pia Larsen is an artist based in Sydney who works with printmedia, paper photography, text and metal. Her practice encompasses images, sculpture and installation environments and draws from an interest in people, place and language in projects that engage with culture, history and geo-politics.
The ‘Comet’ wearables combine the corporeal, movement and colour and references to the symbolic and representational attributes of Comets. They were created using printmedia, including stencilling, intaglio and relief and have been mounted onto gator board that has been cut to fit the irregular shaped printed image edge.
Pia Larsen has exhibited widely over the past twenty years in solo / group shows, commercial galleries and ARI’s and was represented by the Damien Minton Gallery from 2008 – 2012. Her work has been acquired by Sydney City Council, Art Bank, Print Council of Australia, State Library Collection Victoria, Artspace Mackay, Canson Australia (Corporate Collection), Grafton Regional Gallery, UWS Macarthur and the WSW New York.
Pia recently exhibited work with Unlimited Sydney at Sydney Contemporary 2018 in Paper Contemporary and was also selected to create new work for the show ‘From small things, big things grow’ for the ‘Gallery of small things’ and ‘Megalo Print Studio + Gallery’ in the ACT.
