Winter news | August 2025

Just before I left Australia, we had some gorgeous paintings sent to us from Sue Wearne. She too has been on holidays in Europe and is now back home ready to post one or more of this new series of works to you.

We also have ceramic earrings by Lucy Ings. Flora and bird photo media prints by Jason McDonald and bird art prints by Eggpicnic. Both artists provide framed and unframed options. Silk scarves with original designs by Jess Hall. We have you covered this season. Head to the shop now and ask me any questions big or small.

Spain | a new adventure and holidays

Hello everyone, as you know from our last GOST news in July, I was in Vienna in mid June working for the Australian National University in a pastoral/admin role to mentor 24 students undertaking an immersive criminology unit. That role finished a few weeks later and we flew to Madrid, Spain on 13 July. Oh! My! What a change. We went from full on rain and winds to very hot! We had temps between 35 and 41 degrees.

I have written a travel blog on Spain which can be read here. I tell you about hidden gems, where to eat, up to date travel tips and a few photos to entice you on your next travel destination - cities/towns of España. Our fabulous Travel Agent Maria from Maria Slater Travel organised our Spain/Portugal trip and she’s just the best! The next GOST news in September will be about our holiday to Portugal and the physical reopening of GOST.

Drawings | wearing my other hat

During July, I participated in The 2025 Craft + Design Canberra Daily Creative Challenge. Travelling overseas with limited supplies, no access to clay or kiln and being on the go meant I had to go small. I've put together a few faves out of 31 drawings created from my time in Vienna and Spain. You can visit my website, facebook or instagram to see the stories behind each word. I loved every minute (even when struggling with the odd sick days). This grid shows the following word prompts: Echo, Corroboree Frog, Abundance, Messy, Luminous, Finite, Moon, Feral and Untamed.

Love GOST! We welcome reviews to help visitors locally, interstate and overseas to visit us as one of many gems in Canberra. Your positive feedback also helps us (and many tourist operators) when being assessed for arts / tourism opportunities. You can choose Tripadvisor, Facebook or Google.
