Returning Artist | Sell out show | Raising funds for Lismore

Returning artist | new initiative

At GOST, I always try to think outside the square and provide new opportunities for our artists. We also want visitors to enjoy something a little bit different each time they visit too.

Reintroducing Greta Cooper - a recent print media & drawing graduate from the ANU School of Art & Design. Greta was awarded the Emerging Artist Support Scheme in late 2020 as one of 5 artists for a group show at GOST in May 2021. Her birds and bushscape resonated with many of our visitors and as I love making birds it made sense to bring her into our stable on a more permanent basis. I’m also keen to continue mentoring emerging artists long after they graduate from art school.

In 2022, Greta has created 6 artworks featuring birds of the Australian landscape and says, “ … they include the bright blue Superb Fairy-wren, elegant Rose Robin, timid Yellow Thornbill, dashing Eastern Spinebill, bold New Holland Honeyeater and the smallest of Australia’s birds - the Weebill”.

Sell out exhibition | HOME | A first for GOST & Grace

It was such a joy to call Grace last week and tell her the news that her show had sold out.
All 28 artworks are heading to new homes and what an achievement for us! I’m incredibly grateful for Grace and her unwavering commitment to realizing this solo show after two postponements and cancelling the luxury package. We finally made it to meeting in person, handing over the artworks, installing the show, opening to a private audience (our backyard is very small) and then the public! Phew! Even Grace and I felt trepidation when meeting in Albury - were we going to be stopped by a border closure! Luckily no. Champagne, chatting all things art and our future plans made it worth the wait.

Thanks to everyone that came to see the show, purchase an artwork in person to online. Here’s to a kinder 2022! Anne xx

Lismore Regional Gallery and Arts Northern Rivers | helping the creative sector recover from the 2022 floods

From 10 to 31 March, I will donate 20% of all sales* to help the creative sector including Lismore Regional Gallery and artists get back on their feet. It’s going to be a long, heart wrenching process as the community grapple with rebuilding again. I know many artists who have not only lost their homes, but also their studios. Which means no income. It’s their livelihood gone overnight. I can’t imagine that happening to GOST and our artists as my little business means everything to me.

Arts Northern Rivers will "with your support, we can assist these independent artists/small groups to recover from the losses through this rapid funding support to provide lifelines in recovering and maintaining careers, incomes and livelihoods in unprecedented times".

Lismore Regional Gallery has equally suffered, and while I write this, their Director and staff are coming to grips with the enormity of what has been lost. Precious artworks in their collection and on tour.

I plan to donate monies raised to Art Northern Rivers confident the monies goes direct to the people. It means community supporting communities.

If you prefer to donate another way I can suggest the Lismore City Council. They also have a rolling page outlining various updates including practical items they need ASAP.

*Please note the donation does not come from GOST Artist's income.
